Ankara's Climate

Ankara is located in the Central Anatolia region.

Due to the climate, it is really hot in summer and very cold in winter. It is important to wear appropriate clothes.

You can see both snowy days and 40 degrees.

Based on the beach/pool score, the best time of year to visit Ankara for hot-weather activities is from early July to late August

Ecosystem of Ankara

We are continuing our blog with the natural resources in Ankara. Ankara has plenty of Natural Parks and they have a variety of animals, plants, etc. Because of the step climate, Ankara doesn't seem like it has a big biodiversity but Ankara has it's own step diversity.

Also in the north of Ankara (like Kızılcahamam and Beypazarı) because of the black sea region's climate there are forests. These forests also have different species and breathtaking views.

Lets take a look at the Natural Parks in Ankara.

This is Soğuksu Natural Park in Kızılcahamam. There are different types of trees here, such as pine, fir, oak, maple, etc. These tree species create a fascinating view in Soğuksu. Also Europe's biggest and heaviest predator bird black vulture is living here.

And this is Nallıhan Bird Paradise. This is literally a paradise if you love birds. Nallıhan Bird Paradise has a huge number of birds living there. Also there could be more birds if you go there in the migration season.

Water Resources

Let's talk about water resources of Ankara!!

There are some lakes and rivers.

In Ankara we don't have sea, so we usually go to lakes and rivers at the weekend with our family or friends.

Eymir Lake, METU

This lake is in Middle East of Technical University. If you want to go there, it is a public place, you can go.

Mogan Lake, GOLBASI

This is in Golbasi. Mogan lake is far from the center, but you can go by buses or your own car easily.

Ankara River, BEYPAZARI

Ankara River is the extension of the Sakarya River. This is also far from the center.

These are  good places to have a picnic with your family. You can spend your weekends this way.
